What to Read Wednesday: Monster Books for Kids

The Best Monster Books for Kids

Monsters are very scary and real to many young children. Monsters in the closet, monsters under the bed, monsters out the window… Making monsters not so scary and real is a tough parenting job. My son had a spray bottle of ‘Monster Spray’ beside his bed for awhile, and that seemed to ease his anxiety a bit. But, the best ‘cure’ I found was to make friends with the monsters!

Some of our favorite monster books for kids helped us make monsters fun and silly, and not so scary anymore. What monster books do your kids love? Grover’s reluctant journey through a book with a surprise monster at the end in The Monster at the end of this Book is my kids’ number one favorite. I am partial to the wild rumpus in Where the Wild Things Are, but all of these titles are wonderful. Enjoy!

Happy monster hunting!

I’m chuckling over the idea of Monster Lit as a genre!
