Top 5 Master Books for Children 2014

January 6, 2015 by Anne Campbell Leave a Comment

I have only just recently been part of the Moms of Master Books team, but I’ve been a Master Books and NLPG reviewer for a few years. This year, we reviewed some great books. I’d like to share my Top 5 with you! The first 3 are reviews I did for Moms of Master Books. Number 4 is a Master Books title I reviewed before joining the “Moms.” And, number 5 is an oldie, but goodie, from my shelves. Click the links in the titles to read the full reviews.

Here are my top 5 Master Books for Children:

1. My eighth grade son is studying world history beginning with ancient times this year using Dr. Jim Stobaugh’s Studies in World History Volume 1. There is so much to love about this easy-to-use curriculum!

2. Ever wonder about the animals mentioned in the Bible? What’s a gier? Why does the Bible mention a kite? Have you ever seen a pygarg?

44 Animals of the Bible by Nancy Pelander Johnson and Lloyd R. Hight answers these questions and many more in a beautiful full-color format. With easy-to-read text, the author explains where each animal is mentioned in Scripture.

3. We’ve been learning all about bugs with the help of Master Books’ BUGS: Big & Small God Made Them All. This beautiful book shows readers God’s purpose for creating insects in intricate detail. It is a wonderful resource for science, as well as a fun nonfiction picture book for elementary ages.

4. Danny Faulkner’s The New Astronomy Book from Master Books is an affordable all-in-one science book. It is easy for homeschool moms to implement, and it ingeniously includes three levels of skill, while presenting the subject of astronomy from a biblical worldview.

5. I reviewed this one in 2012, but we are still using it in our homeschool, so I wanted to include it in my top five. The True Account of Adam and Eve by Ken Ham is published by Master Books, a division of New Leaf Publishing Group.

Ken Ham’s 64-page illustrated story of the first man and woman presents the biblical account of our first ancestors and how their first act of disobedience has an everlasting impact on our lives. Uniquely illustrated by Bill Looney, this book is a wonderful way to show kids that Adam and Eve were real people, and that their story is real.

What’s Ahead in 2015:

Master Books promises some exciting resources for 2015. I’ll be sharing some of them with you each month. I’m looking forward to The Mineral book and Awesome Science: Explore Dinosaur National Monument.

Be sure to stop by and see what the other Moms of Master Books put on their Top 5 lists, and visit our Facebook parties for chances to win these fabulous resources. Stay tuned!
