An Audio Bible that Brings the Story to Life
The Word of Promise: New Testament Audio Bible is a 20-CD set that also includes a bonus “Behind-the-Scenes” DVD. This audio dramatization of the New King James Version (NKJV) New Testament features a musical score, film quality sound effects, and a professional cast of trained actors to make the New Testament come alive for listeners.
This is a unique CD collection that is much more than just an audio book. The cast “acts out” the Bible with emotional intensity as the New Testament is presented in its entirety. The Word of Promise: New Testament Audio Bible is a wonderful way to experience God’s Word either on the go or while sitting quietly in reflection.
It’s easy to upload the CDs to listen on a portable device like an iPod, and the nicely constructed case is great for taking along in the car. We enjoy audio CDs when we travel or are out-and-about town, and the way the tracks are divided on these CDs makes them easy to stop and start back up without losing your place. The New King James Version is easy to understand without losing the essence of the King James Version, and though the NIV is my favorite translation, I find the New King James Version pretty similar in many ways.
The audio format of the New Testament is a nice addition to our homeschool Bible curriculum, and my kids, from elementary to almost college age, all enjoy The Word of Promise presentation.
The Cast of the Word of Promise New Testament Includes:
- Jim Caviezel (The Passion of The Christ, Déjà vu) – Jesus
- Academy Award winner Richard Dreyfuss (Mr. Holland’s Opus, The Goodbye Girl) – Quotes from Moses
- Academy Award winner Marisa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny, What Women Want) – Mary Magdalene
- Golden Globe winner Stacy Keach (Prison Break, Hemingway) – Paul
- Academy Award and Golden Globe winner Louis Gossett, Jr. (An Officer and a Gentleman, Roots) – John
- Kimberly Williams-Paisley (According to Jim, Father of the Bride) – Mary, Mother of Jesus
- And many others
I would expect a collection of this magnitude to be much more expensive–for the number of CDs included and the quality of the audio presentation, I think this collection is a wise investment.
