Restore my Soul: A Coloring Book Devotional Journey
Restore My Soul: A Coloring Book Devotional Journey is a large-sized adult coloring book/devotional from Ann-Margret Hovsepian for the doodler who is looking for a bit more. The forty devotions are accompanied by intricate designs to color, including quotes from the Bible and beloved authors, motivational sayings, and simple decorated pages for creating your own designs. Once completed, this book remains a source of encouragement as the meditations are revisited again and again.
The author of Restore my Soul introduces this book by pointing out the importance of embracing our creativity and realizing that God himself is a creative God, and he made us to be creative ourselves. By spending some time coloring, while also reflecting on God’s Word, we can experience the same joy we did as kids when we had time to doodle and play.
“Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” –Pablo Picasso
The devotions in Restore my Soul include topics like joy, peace, forgiveness, worry, priorities, attitude, and memorizing Scripture. Anyone would enjoy this adult coloring book, but I think the theme of the devotions and pictures are especially geared towards women. I like how this book is more than just coloring pages, and how the themes of the devotions complement their accompanying coloring pages, so the reader can truly reflect on them while completing the pictures. The heavyweight stock pages will take a variety of art mediums well, including gel pens, color pencils, and certain markers. The designs are intricate, but even the finer details are sized nicely, so readers who struggle to see tiny print will find the pictures non-frustrating. The style of this book is enticing and makes you want to dive in and start creating.
I like the idea of a creative outlet (especially for busy moms) that can be completed in increments easily and doesn’t require a lot of materials. I put Restore My Soul in my Mom-time basket and have set aside (even) a few minutes each day to create in my own adult coloring book–and listen to some tunes–to help relieve a little stress, gain some focus, and spend some time reflecting on the bigger picture.

I’ve always loved coloring so I’m thrilled that it’s now so popular!
I just received my first colouring book last week, and it’s lots of fun! Now the kids and I can all colour together and just forget about homework, etc. In fact-it’s actually on my list of things to do today!
Have fun colouring!
So much more fun than homework! 🙂
