The Best Summer Books for Kids
To us, summer is all about sweltering humid days, thunderstorms, beach vacations, exploring creeks and nature trails, camping out, and visiting air conditioned museums and movie theaters. It’s also about having extra time to snuggle up with a good book and explore new worlds together.
We’ve compiled a list of our favorite summer books below. These are all books from our shelves, most of which we’ve read over and over again. Please share your favorites with us so we can add them to our list.
While you’re here, be sure to add your family friendly links below so we can check out your blog.
Happy reading!

I love reading books with the boys about summer. We picked up That Summer and Pictures From Our Vacation at our library this week.
Sounds like fun! 🙂
So many great books! Alot that we haven’t read yet, thanks!
Hope you find some that you like on our list, Salma!
Henry and Mudge books are some of my favorite for when my kids are new readers.
Ours, too! I think we have loved every book Cynthia Rylant has written 🙂
Thank you for this great list! I have an almost first-grader, and want to keep her reading through out the summer. Going to check out some of your recommendations on Amazon now 🙂
The Storm Book is so good! Adding some more of these to my libary hold list 🙂
“library”, haha!
