Using writing prompts is a wonderful way to exercise your creative muscles by getting something on paper every day. Q&A a Day for Writers: 1-Year Journal is a fun book of writers’ prompts in a daily format, with prompts for each day and lines for writing. These aren’t your common prompts, either, but rather thought-provoking and ‘out-of-the-box’ topics that really stretch your creativity.
“The more we write, the more we learn from our mistakes and our experiments. We push ourselves, we mess up, we try again, we make discoveries, and we savor our successes” (from the Introduction).
The journal is a compact size with a kraft-stock cover with embossing. I really like the prompts and the look of this journal, but in order to write on the left facing pages, I have had to bend the cover so that the binding is almost broken–the journal does not lay flat when opened. Though the construction of the journal makes it sturdy, it would be preferable to me to have the prompts placed close to the inside crease and the lines extend to the outer margins. As it is, I find the prompts useful for writing elsewhere and not inside this book.
Writers’ prompts in Q & A a Day include quotes from well-known authors, personal questions, and fun experiments in writing to pull you out of your comfort zone and inspire creative and challenging work.
