An Open Letter to My Boys

To My Amazing Boys,

You guys are my favorite people in the world. You never cease to amaze me with your kindness, your confidence, your goofiness, your enthusiasm, and your appetites!

It is a joy to watch you grow into ambitious young men who are not only brothers, but also best friends. Though you are active and busy with your own school projects and other activities, you take the initiative to help out when needed, and you are responsible and trustworthy.

You guys also seem to find the funny in everything, and your jokes and laughter are contagious. Life at our house sometimes feels like a whirlwind. From filmmaking, cooking, basketball, archery, gaming, and football, to creating art and music, you guys are always up to something good!

When you were little, it seemed like the teen years were very far away, but time really does fly. Now, here we are immersed in the teen years–but oh, what fun they are!

Your insatiable zest for life is only matched by your appetites. Snack time is ALL THE TIME now–no more picky toddler nibbling. I find it a challenge to keep you fed, but I wouldn’t trade this time for the world.

Now that you guys are more independent and growing into your own, it is amazing to talk with you and hear your ideas, to collaborate on family projects with you, and to just hang out and spend time with you. You truly are the best kids I could have ever dreamed of having, and I’m so happy to be your mom.

This is so lovely Anne. Even though my kids are little, I think about when they are going to be teens! As for snacking, they love it now, so I can’t even imagine when they are older! They are big yogurt fans too!

Modern tech is a great way for our children to know how much we love them; even when we’re not around.
