With 36 weeks of lessons, each based on a key Scripture, Tim Tebow’s Know Who You Are. Live Like It Matters.: A Homeschooler’s Interactive Guide to Discovering Your True Identity encourages homeschool students to journal their way through a series of topics relevant to their lives.
Suitable for middle and high school students, this book is designed to complement your homeschool curriculum with short weekly lessons accompanied by questions for journaling. The ‘Note to Parents’ recommends that students spend about thirty minutes per lesson writing their thoughts.
Each lesson begins with a focus verse, and then a short lesson related to that verse. This is followed by questions for students to write their responses to, with room in the book for writing (or students can write in a separate notebook). The lessons close with a quote or other reflection for further thought.
- Building godly character
- Maintaining great relationships
- Standing out from the crowd
- Doing things that matter in the big picture
Tim covers many issues facing teens and homeschoolers in particular, and I like how he addresses homeschoolers specifically with relevant topics like standardized tests and learning math with Mom. This is not a Bible study curriculum, but more of a devotional. So, it would make a good homeschool supplement, but not a stand alone curriculum. Though Know Who You Are: Live Like it Matters could be used with a group setting, I find many of the questions to be personal, and many teens might not be comfortable discussing their responses with others. I think it is most effective for quiet study time and maybe as a conversation starter for parents.
