PE class? No, just roller skating fun! Actually, I think my boys get a pretty good workout during their two hours of skating each month.
Fun PE Options for Teens
Does your community have an old fashioned roller skating rink? Ask them if they’ll host a homeschool day for your group each month. It’s a great way to “socialize” and sneak in a little exercise.
When my kids were little, park days were a weekly part of our schedule. It was easy to get the kids outside running around when their schedules weren’t so packed with other responsibilities. As they’ve entered middle and high school, it’s a little more challenging to incorporate PE time into our weeks, but there are actually some easy and inexpensive ways to sneak it in–and have fun in the process.
Top 10 Fun PE Activities for Teens
In addition to roller skating, some fun ways to get teens moving include:
- Driveway basketball
- Bowling (Ask your local bowling alley if they will let you schedule homeschool bowling time during their slower hours. Ours even gives us a discounted rate–shoes included. It’s a fun way to “socialize,” too!)
- Frisbee golf
- Nerf war
- Fencing
- Archery
- Badminton
- Hiking/walking
- Train for a 5K
- Mow the lawn (Okay, maybe not as fun, but if a paycheck is involved, my boys like doing it.)
How do you incorporate PE into your homeschool curriculum?
It will be awhile before my kiddos are old enough for these, but they’re great ideas! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for stopping by, Joanna!
Tiger looks well dressed for the occasion! We love to hike, bike, play at the beach, swim at our local pool or take fun classes such as karate, archery, and dance. Tons of fun ways to get moving.
Thanks, L. E. I wish we lived close to a beach–my boys would probably want to spend all their time there!
Great post, I really need to start being more of an “outdoor” person with my son. We’re such homebodies, but I do love hiking during a nice Spring day!
