Hands-On Science: The Edison Project

August 11, 2013 by Anne Campbell Leave a Comment

My younger sons have been learning all about circuits from their online electronics class through Quick Study Labs.

Kids as young as eight years old can take The Edison Project classes, designed especially for homeschool students, using snap circuit kits and the online classroom. We are beginning week six, and the boys have already learned about voltage, resistance, current, electrons, and how to use a multimeter.

I love the hands-on nature of these classes, and my boys cannot wait to start each new week and build new projects (five projects each week). They are learning new concepts and then getting to apply what they learn and test theories.

They recently went on a LED scavenger hunt, finding numerous LEDs in every room of our house! Anything that gets kids excited about learning and excited about science gets an A+ in my book.

My high school age son is a graduate of The Edison Project classes, and the things he learned from Mr. Phillips have helped give him a foundation to build on in high school science.
