To celebrate baseball season, we are making baseball cupcakes, perfect for sharing with the team!
1 1⁄2 cups all purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1⁄2 cup cocoa powder
1 cup water
1⁄2 cup vegetable oil
1 teaspoon vinegar
- canned vanilla frosting
- peel apart cherry Twizzlers candy laces
Preheat oven to 350 degrees and put cupcake liners in muffin pan. This recipe makes about 2 dozen regular-sized cupcakes.
Mix dry ingredients in large bowl until well blended, and then slowly stir in wet ingredients. Mix until smooth and no lumps appear. Pour batter into cupcake liners, about 2/3 full. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 to 18 minutes. Remove from oven and check to see if they are done by carefully inserting a toothpick into the center and removing it. If it is clean, they are done. If gooey chocolate sticks to the toothpick, bake for a few more minutes.
Cool completely and then frost with vanilla frosting. Using kitchen shears, cut Twizzlers into pieces to use as “laces” for the baseballs. Arrange on top of iced cupcakes. Share with the team for snacktime! (They’ll be a big “hit.”)
