Easing Back to School

August 18, 2013 by Anne Campbell Leave a Comment

We are year-round homeschoolers, but we scale back during the summer a bit as we make the transition back to school and on to the next grades.

We’re gearing up to our full schedule over the next couple of weeks. Although we “do school” all through the summer, our pace is more relaxed for these months. We still cover our core subjects, but not in as much detail as we spend more time on unit studies and electives. In my years of homeschooling, I’ve learned that a relaxed start to school, adding in more subjects gradually until we are back in full, is the best way to get my kids on track without overwhelming all of us.

Here is a peek into how we are easing back to school:

  • Record Keeping: School Log–How I set up my main binder for lesson planning, record keeping, and documenting field trips and activities.
  • Daily Schedule–Here’s what our days typically look like.
  • Year-Round Homeschooling–How we plan our year-long schedule.
  • Curriculum Choices–Some of my picks for 2013/2014.
  • Our Schoolroom–What our schoolroom looks like.
  • Encouragement for Homeschool Moms–Free eBook download for you!

How do you start back to school? Do you have any tips to share for getting back into a routine?
