WHAT IS DUAL ENROLLMENT? Do you have a high school student? Do you have some difficult subjects to teach? Is your high school student planning to go to college after graduation? Summer Reading Fun for Moms and Kids

June 15, 2018 by Anne Campbell Leave a Comment

To me, summer is all about sweltering humid days, thunderstorms, a beach vacation, exploring creeks and nature trails, camping out, and visiting air-conditioned museums and movie theaters. It’s also about having extra time to snuggle up with a good book and explore new worlds together.

Homeschooling Algebra: A Different Perspective

June 11, 2018 by Anne Campbell Leave a Comment

Tears . . . That is the first word that comes to my mind when I think of the word algebra. My past experience with algebra wasn’t great. I struggled to understand the concepts, spent hours studying, and got help with my homework from friends and family. I just didn’t get it. When we decided to […]

What I Wish I’d Known When I Started Homeschooling

May 30, 2018 by Anne Campbell 2 Comments

What I wish I would have known then, and what I have since learned, is that having a support system of other homeschool moms is vital to success and happiness as a homeschool mom. Homeschooling can honestly be kind of isolating. Finding your tribe is essential to battling the loneliness you can feel as a homeschooling mom, and it is also vital to helping you figure out what to do.

Homeschooling Can Be Isolating This blog uses referral links. Please read my disclosure policy. Someone recently asked me this simple question: “What do you wish you would have known when you started homeschooling?” It really got me thinking. You know what? 15 years later, our homeschool looks NOTHING like it did when we first started homeschooling! I […]

Little Critter Little Blessings Collection

May 18, 2018 by Anne Campbell Leave a Comment

The Little Critter Blessings Collection is great for a young reader, because of it's short sentences and minimal text blocks. Plus, there are bright, colorful pictures on each page, making the stories even more engaging. My favorite way to share this book with a child, however, is as a read-aloud. The life messages in the stories are wonderful conversation starters for parents and children, so reading aloud creates a special time to share these lessons together.

What to Read Wednesday: World Religions Books for Kids

May 16, 2018 by Anne Campbell 2 Comments

I believe that one of the best ways to encourage peace among people is to learn about each other and respect our differences. As part of our homeschool curriculum, we include Bible study and studies of world religions. As we read chapter books about different eras and cultures, we usually end up doing more research to discover different beliefs and customs.
