Busy, Busy!

Making Time for Loved Ones During Busy Days

With hectic schedules and never-ending To Do lists, families have a lot going on. But, there is always time for our loved ones, as Eileen Spinelli reassuringly reminds children in Busy, Busy!, a board book for young children.

Busy, Busy! features different animal characters busy about their daily tasks. The bee is making honey, the rooster is busy with his morning crowing, and the ants are stashing away breadcrumbs. Each rhyming page features a new animal with cute, colorful illustrations that have many details for children to find.

The human mommy is working hard, too, tending her garden, but she still has time for a loving snuggle with her child. This book is full of nature and happy characters, providing a welcoming, sweet backdrop for a story that young kids will relate to. It’s sure to be a favorite request for read aloud time, and it’s sturdy format will provide lots of independent quiet time for ages two to five.

The beautiful illustrations in this book are perfect for revisiting again and again after reading the story, to have kids search for specific items. This is a great activity for vocabulary development. Asking questions like, “Where is the horse?” or “How many clothes are on the clothesline?” extends the learning from this book beyond the story itself. For moms and dads who are living full, demanding lives and feel like they can’t squeeze it all in, this book will bring a reassuring touch to their bedtime routines with their kids, as the author reminds us that even in our business, there’s always time for love.
