Three women in the Bible named Mary–Mary of Bethany, Mary of Nazareth, and Mary Magdalene–each have encounters with Jesus that transform their lives. Best-selling author Liz Curtis Higgs teaches us how these encounters relate to our lives in The Women of Easter: Encounter the Savior with Mary of Bethany, Mary of Nazareth, and Mary Magdalene

This little book recounts the stories of these three Marys through engaging descriptions interspersed with Scripture verses. The author’s compelling story brings readers right into the scenes of the Crucifixion and Resurrection and allows us to witness these events through the eyes of these women of the Bible. Mrs. Higgs uses references from different translations of the Bible along with discussions of the same events from different writers’ perspectives (John, Matthew, Mark, and Luke) to detail the extraordinary story, perfect for reading during the Easter season to gain a greater understanding of its significance.

Well researched and personal

Liz Curtis Higgs did a lot of research to pull this book together, which is thoroughly referenced, but her engaging writing style really pulls you into the story and makes The Women of Easter nearly impossible to put down. I learned so much from this book, and I don’t know if Mrs. Higgs knows how far-reaching her ministry is. This book makes you want to discover more and dig into your Bible. As a stand alone Bible study or as a devotional for the Lent season, this book is a must-read. I was so happy to find the Study Guide at the end of the book, which offers an in-depth study, chapter by chapter, with lots of thought-provoking questions to help you spend more time exploring these events and how they apply to our lives.
